RateShield was founded by Jack Ray, who grew up in the insurance industry. The mission has not changed since day one: make insurance as accessible and straightforward as it can possibly be. The licensed side of that work is done by an independent, licensed brokerage in the RateShield trusted network.
A note from Jack
I grew up in the insurance industry, so I have watched people get handed policies they did not understand at prices nobody explained. I built RateShield to do the opposite of that.
RateShield is a system. We are building technology that does the tedious part of insurance for you: the chasing, the re-keying, the waiting on hold. You ask for coverage once, and a licensed producer walks you through real numbers.
I wear two hats and I would rather say so plainly. I founded RateShield, which is the technology. I am also a licensed Illinois insurance producer at the independent brokerage in the RateShield network. Every quote you get, every policy you buy, and every renewal you call about is the brokerage's business, never RateShield's.
The advice itself stays human. Wearing that second hat I shop the carriers, I tell you what I would buy in your situation, and I tell you when the right answer is keeping the policy you already have. If anything we say is not clear, make us explain it again. That is the job.

RateShield never quotes, advises, binds, or services a policy. That work belongs to the licensed brokerage handling your request, and we are careful about the line.
Independent means someone works for you
The brokerage in our network is independent: not owned by a carrier, and not pushing one company's products. Every recommendation comes from what fits your situation.
Honest when it costs us
If your current policy is the better deal, your producer tells you exactly that and leaves it there. A recommendation you can trust next year starts with the truth this year.

An independent, licensed brokerage in the RateShield trusted network, named on your request form. Its licensed producers compare the carriers, write the policy, and service it at renewal and at claim time.
How everyone gets paid
Carriers pay the brokerage a commission when you choose a policy. The brokerage pays RateShield for the technology. Comparing is free and you never pay either of us directly.
